Chandler Patterson is currently an undergraduate student at the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration. During the Summer 2020 semester, she completed an internship with a company in Lafayette, LA. We interviewed her to find out more about her experience and how her time at the company benefited her professional development.

Why did you choose to attend UL Lafayette?
I chose to attend UL Lafayette to not only further my education, but also to make new connections in an unfamiliar environment.

Why did you choose to major in Marketing?
I chose the major of marketing because it is such an interactive and exciting industry. I admire that progression in marketing relies on strong efforts of communication and strategy.

Why did you decide to participate in the Moody Business Internship Program?
I decided to participate in the internship program to gain experience and knowledge within the marketing career field.

Teamwork Solutions Group

How did you first hear about your internship?
Handshake

What was your favorite thing about the internship?
I really enjoyed learning about the digital marketing behind Acadiana’s 2020 St. Jude Dream Home. I was able to visit the house and experience the vendor interview process in order to market ticket sales.

What were your responsibilities at your internship?
Throughout my internship, I learned about and accomplished marketing research, blogging, editing, content calendars, social media research, and sales research/ prospecting.

What is the most valuable thing you learned during your internship?
The most valuable thing I learned during my internship is having an open mind while exploring the many great experiences that will certainly contribute to my professional growth track.

How do you think participating in the internship program has benefitted your professional development?
I believe this internship has benefited my professional development and education greatly as I researched many distinct topics regarding marketing and sales that I eventually applied to eleven blogs that I authored.

What advice would you give to someone considering participating in the Moody Business Internship Program in the future?
I would suggest taking initiative and to explore internships you believe would help you progress most in your desired career field.
