Several University of Louisiana at Lafayette students placed highly in the sixth annual collegiate sales competition that was recently hosted by the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration.

Eleven students competed in the competition. They delivered mock sales pitches to representatives of local companies, who posed as potential buyers for simulated businesses.

A panel of local sales professionals judged participants on how well they performed in a range of areas, including effective communication, use of visual aids, and ascertaining potential buyers’ needs.

Casey Dugas, a senior from Lafayette majoring in marketing, placed first. She earned a spot in the National Collegiate Sales Competition April 1-4 at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Ga.

Thaddeus Victor, a senior majoring in general studies from LaPlace, La., placed second. Catherine Menard, a general studies senior from Scott, La., placed third.
