Philip McMahon is the Spring 2016 Outstanding Graduate for both the College of Business and the Department of Economics and Finance at the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration.

Majoring in Insurance & Risk Management, McMahon maintained a 3.8 cumulative GPA throughout his college career. He is an active member of several campus organizations, including Beta Gamma Sigma, Alpha Lambda Delta, and Order of Omega honor societies. He also serves in the Student Government Association, Risk Management & Insurance Society, Intrafraternity Council (IFC), Up ‘TIl Dawn, and Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

McMahon was recognized on the Dean’s List for the Fall 2015 semester and the President’s List from Fall 2012 to Spring 2015. He also was granted the Pi Kappa Alpha 2013 President’s Award and the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership 5 Star Chapter Excellence Award from 2012 to 2014.

In addition to his academic achievements and involvement on campus, McMahon is also very active in the local community. He has served as a volunteer for Relay for Life, Rebuilding Together, the ALS Walk, Faith House of Acadiana and Games of Acadiana.

Throughout the majority of his college career, McMahon has been employed by Knox Insurance Group which has led him to better understand his future career goals. After graduation, McMahon will complete an internship with Price Forbes working in the Marine and Natural Resource Division. After he completes the internship, McMahon plans to move to New Orleans, La. to work for the Gray Insurance Company, where he will work with programs crafted to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry. McMahon’s ultimate career goal is to become a commercial insurance agent and one day own an insurance agency specializing in marine and energy risks.
