The MBA Program offers a concentration in Health Care Administration. The MBA with a Health Care Administration Concentration is designed to develop competence for management in a health care environment. Professional in nature, the program stresses the development of analytical and decision making skills for a complex and dynamic organizational and social environment. The program, offered in the evening, accommodates those who are employed or otherwise unable to attend class during the day. Individuals are able to attend part-time or carry a full course load. Hence, the program is designed to accommodate active managers or technical supervisors, persons wishing to make career changes, and recent graduates interested in advanced study in business and health care administration.
The program provides breadth through a common body of knowledge aimed at developing competency for overall management. In addition, students will develop a special competency in Health Care Administration through course work specific to that area.
Basic requirements for the MBA degree consist of 33 hours (11 courses), 15 hours (5 courses) of core business courses, and 18 hours (6 courses) of Health Care Administration courses. The requirements may increase up to 15 additional hours (5 foundation courses) depending upon the undergraduate business courses previously completed. Two internships (3 hours each) will be required for the Health Care Administration Concentration.
There is no thesis requirement or option. Prior to admission and throughout the program the student must demonstrate proficiency in writing and speaking English and must demonstrate computer competency through previous course work or experience.
